My name is Kelly. I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (#3892). I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from City University of Seattle. I am currently a second-year doctoral student at a Behavioral Sciences program.
I was born in Taiwan and grew up in Nanaimo. I am passionate about working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and believe that diversity is something to be celebrated. I offer counselling services in both English and Mandarin.
I believe in the inherent worth of every individual and their innate inclination to thrive towards what they are fully capable of. I have been in the counselling field for 7 years providing support for children, adolescents, and families in various capacities, including in outreach services, non-profit organizations, community-based social services, educational institutions, and private sectors. The areas of my expertise include supporting individuals and families navigating through life transitions, exploring questions of meaning and identity, cultivating healthy and authentic relationships with self and others, enhancing emotional literacy and management, coping with depression and anxiety, stress management, and parent coaching/consultation.
Understanding that there is no one size fits all when it comes to every individual’s journey towards change, I draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches according to their circumstances, preference, and needs. Some of the counselling approaches I incorporate into my practice include Narrative therapy, Solution-Focused therapy, Client-Centered approach, Mindfulness therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural therapy, just to name a few.
I would like to thank my clients for offering me the privilege to be a part of their journey toward change and growth.
